Since June 2013 Matthias Ehrlich is leading the Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft (BVDW e.V.) as president, after belonging to the trade association’s presidium for six years.
The entrepreneur, who is active in the project and investment business and is a member of the supervisory board for S&T AG and Atevia AG, is counted among the most respected digital and media experts in the German-speaking media business with decade long expertise in corporate governance and strategy development and has been actively involved in the successful setup and expansion of the digital economy in Germany for more than ten years. From 2006 until 2013 Matthias Ehrlich was responsible for the media marketing of the captive portals of the United Internet AG, the largest internet pure play in Europe, as well as the global advertising network AD Europe, co-founded by him, as member of the board of United Internet Media AG and 1&1 Internet AG. In this time Matthias Ehrlich developed the company-owned media division into the leading online-marketer in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Prior to his move to the management board of the United Internet Media AG the graduate industrial engineer spent several years working for the WEB.DE AG, a leading German online portal, most recently as CSO responsible for media sales and corporate sales.
Matthias Ehrlich joined the internet pioneer WEB.DE after perennial practice in consultancy and financial business for digital media in Germany, Spain and USA. Before, he was in numerous leading positions in the range of sales and marketing in different high-tech and internet companies, amongst others: with the graphic media pioneers Silicon Graphics and SPEA Software AG.
The Munich resident is a confessing wine lover and owns a vineyard in Germany's prestigious Mosel region. Matthias Ehrlich is married and has one daughter.
